Overview

The Kenya Strategy Support Program (KSSP) is a policy research, capacity strengthening, and policy communication program. Its main objectives are accelerating poverty reduction and improving food security. Key team members are based in Nairobi to provide support to the Government of Kenya and international and local partners, including the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), University of Nairobi, Central Bank of Kenya, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Cooperatives (MALFC).

KSSP policy research focuses on areas related to development strategies; markets, trade, and institutions; poverty, health, and nutrition; and the environment and climate change. The main capacity building activities include specialized training programs for partner institutions to strengthen the skills of their staff in undertaking applied policy research and linking with key training and technical partners, such as local universities and think tanks, in order to equip these partners and stakeholders with needed analytical capacity. Policy communication is based on research findings and disseminated through publications, workshops, social media, and policy dialogues. KSSP activities are funded by CGIAR and international partners.
