Ruth Meinzen-Dick

Ruth Meinzen-Dick is a Senior Research Fellow in the Natural Resources and Resilience Unit. She has extensive transdisciplinary research experience in using qualitative and quantitative research methods. Her work focuses on two broad (and sometimes interrelated) areas: how institutions affect how people manage natural resources, and the role of gender in development processes.

Harriet Mawia

Research Officer

Bio

Harriet Mawia is a Research Officer in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit who conducts research on socioeconomics and gender policy issues using applied econometric analysis. Her focus is on gender equality and the empowerment of women in agriculture for economic development, food security, and improved livelihoods in Africa. Before joining IFPRI, Harriet was a consultant with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and a research assistant at the World Agroforestry Center. She holds a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Pretoria and the University of Nairobi.
