Elodie Becquey

Elodie Becquey is a Senior Research Fellow in the Nutrition, Diets, and Health Unit, based in IFPRI’s West and Central Africa office in Senegal. She has over 15 years of research experience in diet, nutrition, and food security in Africa, including countries such as Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, and Tanzania.

Alternative meat can sustain food systems

ChinaDaily.com published an article by IFPRI Director General Shenggen Fan. Due to sickness in pigs, fluctuating pork prices, and a desire to improve diets, moving toward more plant-based alternative meat could be in China’s future. Fan notes the benefits of a diet that includes alternative meat and sees an opportunity to help ensure healthy and sustainable food systems.
