Building high quality agriculture and food systems (Xinhua Outlook Weekly)

August 14, 2018

China’s Xinhua Outlook Weekly published an opinion article authored by IFPRI DG Shenggen Fan. In the op-ed, Fan suggests pathways in which China can reshape and harness the agri-food systems to improve food security and nutrition and achieve its ‘Healthy China 2030’ goals. It discusses China’s challenges on malnutrition, non-communicable diseases, and food safety scandals, and proposes to change the status quo with innovations in policies, institutions, and technologies.
