David Spielman

David Spielman is the director of IFPRI’s Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit and has been with the institute since 2004. His research agenda covers a range of topics including agriculture and rural development policy; agricultural science, technology, and innovation; plant genetic resources and seed systems; agricultural extension and advisory services; and community-driven rural development.

Kinya Kaibung’a

Research Officer

Bio

Kinya Kaibung’a is a Research Officer with the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has a keen interest in leveraging machine learning, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies to boost climate resilience and food security in smart agriculture systems. She has previously worked with the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis and the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics as a researcher. She has also taught probability and statistics at Meru University of Science and Technology in Kenya.

She holds a master’s degree in mathematics and statistics and a bachelor’s degree in statistics from the University of Nairobi.
