Eliot Jones-Garcia

Eliot Jones-Garcia is a Senior Research Analyst with the Natural Resources and Resilience Unit based in Washington, DC. His research focuses on human-AI interaction, user-centered design, and the ethical and responsible development of AI. Eliot is currently finalizing a PhD on the digitalization of agricultural advisory services at Wageningen University & Research.

Ethiopian Economy Grows, but Diets Are Still Poor (News Deeply)

News Deeply published an op-ed by IFPRI’s Bart Minten and Kalle Hirvonen, on the challenges of malnutrition in Ethiopia. In the wake of improved economic conditions, the country’s nutritional statistics show an increase in consumption of sugary foods, as nutritious foods have become more expensive. Left without additional investments to make nutritious foods affordable, this issue could bring, “malnourishment to rural Ethiopia and obesity to its cities,” the authors said.
