David Spielman

David Spielman is the director of IFPRI’s Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit and has been with the institute since 2004. His research agenda covers a range of topics including agriculture and rural development policy; agricultural science, technology, and innovation; plant genetic resources and seed systems; agricultural extension and advisory services; and community-driven rural development.

Ukraine grain deal renewed at the last minute (The World)

“The UN-brokered deal between Ukraine and Russia to allow grain exports to sail safely across the Black Sea was renewed today, on the eve of its expiration scheduled for May 18. The delays by Russian negotiators made the renewal uncertain. Host Marco Werman speaks with Joseph Glauber, a senior research fellow at the International Food Policy Research Institute in Washington, about the diplomatic wrangling that has surrounded an agreement that feeds the world and supports Ukraine’s economy, writes Stephen Snyder about the World’s radio interview.
