Support Our Mission: At the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), we are dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to end poverty, hunger and malnutrition. With more than 500 staff working around the world, representing more than 60 countries, IFPRI conducts rigorous research to inform policies that improve food and nutrition security, enhance agricultural productivity, and promote policies and actions that benefit the most vulnerable populations. We collaborate with governments, foundations, international agencies, civil society, and the private sector to build trust through high-quality, long-term engagement; and introduce and test new ideas in the policy space.  IFPRI is a CGIAR research center, contributing to the broader mission of transforming food, land, and water systems to end hunger.

Why Your Support Matters

When you support IFPRI, you support cutting-edge science that has a real-world impact. IFPRI’s research positively shapes policies and improves lives and livelihoods across multiple continents. Conservative estimates indicate that just a portion of our work has benefited nearly half a billion people. Just recently, with the support of our funders and partners, we were able to:

  • Equip policymakers with high-quality global and country analyses on food crises and vulnerabilities, leading the G20 and World Trade Organization to call for swiftly phasing out food export restrictions imposed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine.
  • Develop the first-ever guidance for managing tradeoffs across investments in water, energy, and ecosystem health for the Niger River Basin. This guidance was adopted by Basin countries and will benefit an estimated 160 million inhabitants.
  • Release evaluations showing that our partner, Alive & Thrive, had reached more than 4.2 million people, including pregnant women and children, with maternal and child nutrition interventions over 5 years.
  • Help government partners, including in Nigeria, integrate gender and nutrition into climate policies.
  • Support an African Union Declaration on food fortification and biofortification.
  • Provide modeling to help the government of Rwanda prioritize policies for poverty reduction, food security, and diet quality in its agriculture transformation plan.
