Lilia Bliznashka

Lily Bliznashka is a Research Fellow in the Nutrition, Diets, and Health Unit. Her research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of multi-input nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific interventions and the mechanisms through which they work to improve maternal and child health and nutrition globally. She has worked in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Adolescent Pregnancy Risky for Mothers: IFPRI Study (The Independent)

Bangladesh’s The Independent published an article on a recent IFPRI study on heightened risks of adolescent pregnancy in the country. The study, “The Nutrition and Health Risks Faced by Pregnant Adolescents: Insights from a Cross-sectional Study in Bangladesh,” led by Research Fellow Phuong Hong Nguyen found that adolescent mothers recovered more slowly, and often faced more health complications than more mature mothers. Dr. Nguyen explained adolescent pregnancy is risky to mothers for health as well as economic reasons.
