Bad food raising under-nutrition and obesity: Experts (Business Standard)

March 30, 2018

Business Standard published an article with comments from IFPRI’s Senior Research Fellow Rasmi Avula, on stunting and obesity in India. In the article, Avula states that stunting affects 39 percent of children in India, and more than a third of all men and women are now overweight or obese. The article links this to under-regulation of companies that aggressively market processed, calorie deficient foods to consumers. “We have to look at these issues from an inequity lens. We cannot allow the inequity to continue,” said Avula. This article was also published in The Quint and The Telegraph.
