Elodie Becquey

Elodie Becquey is a Senior Research Fellow in the Nutrition, Diets, and Health Unit, based in IFPRI’s West and Central Africa office in Senegal. She has over 15 years of research experience in diet, nutrition, and food security in Africa, including countries such as Burkina Faso, Chad, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, and Tanzania.

Child malnutrition costs Ghana more than $2 billion annually: experts (Reuters)

A Reuters article on malnutrition’s effect on Ghana’s economy mentions the 2016 Global Nutrition Report. The article states the report showed that malnutrition “is responsible for nearly all half of deaths of children under five worldwide and, along with poor diets, is the main driver of disease” and “Ghana has made progress in improving child nutrition, as stunting rates have almost halved, to 19 percent from 36 percent.” This article has been duplicated at All Africa and African Independent
