China’s anti-waste food waste campaign (DW Media)

August 18, 2020

DW Media produced an interview with a number of experts on how the global pandemic is adding to food insecurity. Division Director Rob Vos (Markets, Trade, and Institutions Division) spoke on food production, distribution, and disruption during COVID-19. Vos said, “There are two sides to it. Most food supply chains have been holding up in terms of basic staple foods. We have seen disruptions in fruits and vegetables.” Vos also stated that because of the pandemic, a lot of foods have been wasted because suppliers couldn’t provide their products to restaurants and schools that have closed.
