Dried-out farms from China to Iowa will pressure food prices (Bloomberg)

August 27, 2022

Bloomberg published an article on how the world is desperate to replenish grain reserves diminished by trade disruptions in the Black Sea and unfavorable weather in some of the largest growing regions. Droughts throughout the world are having a major impact on food prices globally. A US crop tour revealed the damage done by severe drought; lack of rain is also taking a toll on Europe, China, and India. Senior research fellow Joseph Glauber said, “Even before this week’s news from the crop tour, I have been concerned that we would not see much stock rebuilding until 2023. “The opening of Ukraine ports is a welcome sign, but volumes remain far below normal levels.” Republished in Yahoo FinanceThe Star (Shanghai), ArcaMax (United States), Flipboard, and more than a dozen U.S. and international outlets.
