Danielle Resnick

Danielle Resnick is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit and a Non-Resident Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution. Her research focuses on the political economy of agricultural policy and food systems, governance, and democratization, drawing on extensive fieldwork and policy engagement across Africa and South Asia.

Finns may soon have to change their eating habits – the reason is war and Finland’s dependence on Russian fertilizers (YLE)

YLE (Finland) published an article on how Russia and Belarus are the world’s leading producers of fertilizers and their raw materials. Access to those products has and will continue to be more difficult to obtain. Attempts are now being made to reduce dependence on Russia. According to data collected by the IFPRI (see maps in the article), about a third of the nitrogen fertilizer and up to 60 percent of the potassium fertilizer imported to Finland comes from Russia and Belarus.
