Kinya Kaibung’a is a Research Officer with the Development Strategies and Governance Unit, based in Nairobi, Kenya. She has a keen interest in leveraging machine learning, AI, and other cutting-edge technologies to boost climate resilience and food security in smart agriculture systems.

Firm outlines 3 economic risks (The Nation)

The Nation (Malawi) reported that Malawi’s economic outlook faces considerable downside risks, including the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, weather shocks, and fiscal slippages. According to IFPRI, Poverty levels were projected to worsen in the just-ended year to 56.3 percent from 50. 5 percent as the measures which were affected to reduce the Covid-19 spread had reduced household incomes by an average of 11.4 percent. The Nation concluded that the second wave of the pandemic seems more devastating than last year and potentially threatens growth.”
