Global food crisis looms as countries ban exports: (KITA)

June 18, 2022

KITA produced a video on how due to the Ukraine-Russia war, a global food crisis is on the horizon. The video quoted from IFPRI research saying that so far this year countries around the world have banned exports of more than 50 food and fertilizer products (See IFPRI tool, Food & Fertilizer Export Restrictions Tracker) which will most likely lead to higher prices and political unrest along with economic instability. Nearly eighty percent of these export restrictions have been imposed since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. These bans affect 17 percent of all food & fertilizer products traded around the world.
