Danielle Resnick

Danielle Resnick is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit and a Non-Resident Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution. Her research focuses on the political economy of agricultural policy and food systems, governance, and democratization, drawing on extensive fieldwork and policy engagement across Africa and South Asia.

Indian Milk Production Leads World, but Farmers Remain Outside Formal Credit System (Financial Express)

The Financial Express in India reported this morning on a joint study between the National Institute of Agriculture Economics and Policy Research (NIAP) and the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) titled “Formal versus Informal: Efficiency, inclusiveness, and financing of Dairy value chains in India.” The study found that financing from banks and other financial institutions can be hard to find for small dairy farmers due to high costs and perceived lending risks.
