The pandemic leads to more hunger and obesity (Yahoo Finance)

July 13, 2020

Yahoo Finance (Germany) reported on the UN’s statement that hunger and malnutrition are on the rise worldwide because the coronavirus crisis is driving more people into poverty and restricting their access to healthy food. IFPRI research shows that while it is too early to fully assess the impact of lockdowns and other pandemic mitigation measures, the global recession could add another 83 to 132 million to the starving. Measures to combat the effects of Covid-19 on hunger and nutrition will require additional government spending of $ 10 billion this year.
