Rurbanomics (D + C – Development and Cooperation)

November 03, 2019

D + C – Development and Cooperation published an op-ed on “Rurbanomics” from Director General Shenggen Fan and Director of IFPRI’s Director for Africa Ousmane Badiane. Rurbanomics is an approach that emphasizes the interrelatedness and interdependency of rural and urban economies. Rural and urban areas must be partners, and rural areas can do much more than produce commodities. They should be seen both as launching points for national, regional and global value chains and as providers of indispensable environmental services.
