Danielle Resnick

Danielle Resnick is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit and a Non-Resident Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution. Her research focuses on the political economy of agricultural policy and food systems, governance, and democratization, drawing on extensive fieldwork and policy engagement across Africa and South Asia.

“Specter” COVID-19 and global food security warning (Lao Dong)

Lao Dong (Viet Nam) published an article stating that it has been one year since IFPRI first issued the warning “COVID-19 could lead to a food security crisis if appropriate measures are not taken.” IFPRI believes that poverty in sub-Saharan Africa is likely to increase by 15 percent in rural areas and by 44 percent in urban areas (See the book, COVID-19 and global food security).
