Eliot Jones-Garcia

Eliot Jones-Garcia is a Senior Research Analyst with the Natural Resources and Resilience Unit based in Washington, DC. His research focuses on human-AI interaction, user-centered design, and the ethical and responsible development of AI. Eliot is currently finalizing a PhD on the digitalization of agricultural advisory services at Wageningen University & Research.

Subsidy pushes up yields by 3%—study (The Nation)

Nation (Malawi) published an article on a study that showed households that had access to Farm Input Subsidy Programme (FISP), the predecessor of Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP), had their maize yields rise by a paltry 2.9 percent, a recent study has shown. IFPRI recently found that overall, poor households that received subsidized inputs under FISP were better off than those who did not access the inputs.
