Tightening stock numbers have markets concerned (Iowa Agribusiness Network)

May 24, 2022

Iowa Agribusiness Network published an article explaining concerns over current stock numbers. It feels like we have the words “tight stocks” on a recorded loop every week when we talk to analysts. The truth of the matter is there are concerns about having enough supply to feed the world. These concerns are being fueled by weather and geopolitical factors. Senior research fellow Joseph Glauber says the current situation has the markets very jumpy. Eventually, he says, the markets will work through these high prices that are making imports so expensive for other countries. “It is understandable that there are ideas being floated to combat this situation, but that paying farmers to grow extra crops is not going to be the answer.”
