Lilia Bliznashka

Lily Bliznashka is a Research Fellow in the Nutrition, Diets, and Health Unit. Her research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of multi-input nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific interventions and the mechanisms through which they work to improve maternal and child health and nutrition globally. She has worked in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Michigan Farmer reported on possible food supply shortages US. The blog post, The COVID-19 nutrition crisis: What to expect and how to protect, by Senior Research Fellow Derek Headey and Division Director Marie Ruel was quoted in the article stating the COVID-19 pandemic “has all the makings of a perfect storm for global malnutrition,” with vulnerable groups in developing countries facing “a dangerous decline in dietary quality” stemming from income losses related to government-imposed shutdowns of businesses and schools. Republished in Wallace Farmer, American Agriculturist, and other state agriculture outlets.
