Lilia Bliznashka

Lily Bliznashka is a Research Fellow in the Nutrition, Diets, and Health Unit. Her research focuses on assessing the effectiveness of multi-input nutrition-sensitive and nutrition-specific interventions and the mechanisms through which they work to improve maternal and child health and nutrition globally. She has worked in Burkina Faso, Burundi, Tanzania, and Uganda.

Why Latin America and Africa Struggle to Grow (Bloomberg View)

Bloomberg View published a piece analyzing a new paper by IFPRI Deputy Division Director Xinshen Diao and Senior Research Fellow Margaret McMillan that examines the explanations for slow growth in the economies of Latin America and Africa South of the Sahara. Their research showed that Latin American economies have suffered from a lack of positive structural change, while African economies have failed to increase the productivity of their existing industries.
