Ahmed Akhter

Akhter Ahmed

Akhter Ahmed is a Senior Research Fellow in the IFPRI’s Poverty, Gender, and Inclusion Unit and Country Representative for IFPRI Bangladesh. He has worked on strategies for agricultural and rural development, social protection, and women’s empowerment to reduce poverty, food insecurity, and undernutrition in developing countries including Bangladesh, China, Egypt, India, Malawi, the Philippines, and Turkey.

2025 Award Winners

Jo SwinnenDirector General, IFPRILoraine RonchiGlobal Lead for Science, Knowledge, and Innovation in Agriculture and Food, World Bank and former IFPRI staff; and Tom ReardonNon-Resident Fellow, IFPRI, have been selected to receive the Agricultural & Applied Economics Association (AAEA) Quality of Communication Award for their journal article, Harnessing Agrifood Value Chains to Help Farmers Be Climate Smart.” published in Science.org.

The Quality of Communication Award is granted to encourage excellence in publications in fields consistent with the AAEA vision statement. The winning entries demonstrate superior communication of concepts or knowledge in agricultural and applied economics. Considerations for the award include the importance and timeliness of the topic, the value of the communication to the intended audience and reach to a broad set of stakeholders, and the contribution to the literature.

Marie Ruel

Marie Ruel will be inducted into the 2025 Class of Distinguished Fellows of the American Society of Nutrition (ASN). Induction as a Distinguished Fellow is the highest accolade bestowed by ASN, honoring individuals for their significant contributions and outstanding lifetime achievements in the field of nutrition.

Jef Leroy is an inaugural awardee of the American Society for Nutrition’s Excellence in Nutrition Fellows program. The program recognizes distinguished members for their ongoing contributions to the field and sustained engagement in the nutrition community.
