David Spielman

David Spielman is the director of IFPRI’s Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit and has been with the institute since 2004. His research agenda covers a range of topics including agriculture and rural development policy; agricultural science, technology, and innovation; plant genetic resources and seed systems; agricultural extension and advisory services; and community-driven rural development.

USDA says no discussions about emergency crops in Conservation Reserve (Successful Farmer)

Successful Farmer published an article stating that the USDA is not considering suggestions that it open the land-idling Conservation Reserve for cropping this year to stabilize grain supplies following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Senior research fellow Joseph Glauber predicted that only a relatively small amount of additional wheat — less than 100 million bushels — would be harvested if the Conservation Reserve rules were changed.
