David Spielman

David Spielman is the director of IFPRI’s Innovation Policy and Scaling Unit and has been with the institute since 2004. His research agenda covers a range of topics including agriculture and rural development policy; agricultural science, technology, and innovation; plant genetic resources and seed systems; agricultural extension and advisory services; and community-driven rural development.

57 cases of global food export restrictions this year… “The impact of the Ukrainian war needs to be strengthened in the domestic supply chain” (Chosun)

Chosun published an article about the new report by the International Trade Research Institute of the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) cited data from IFPRI in a report titled ‘Supply Chain Disturbances and Effects of Food Export Restrictions Measures’ on the 20th. 57 cases were reported. Looking at the details of the measures, 42 cases of export bans, 10 cases of export licenses, and 5 cases of tariffs, etc., have been implemented in a total of 34 countries. 

Since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war on February 24, 45 measures, or 78.9%, have been implemented. Republished in The Dive (Korea).
