To end hunger by 2030, donors will need to double their spending (Le Monde)

October 13, 2020

Le Monde published an article on the release of new findings from the Ceres2030: ‘Sustainable Solutions to End Hunger. To end hunger by 2030, donors will need to double their spending. In a body of publications, Ceres2030 calls on the international community to redouble their efforts to keep their commitments to fight against food insecurity. This work concludes that to eradicate hunger within ten years, donors should double their funding (from $ 12 billion per year to 26 billion – from 10 to 22 billion euros), and low- and moderate-income countries increase their public spending by 19 billion dollars annually. Senior Research Fellow David Laborde said, “We had in mind to meet three objectives–that no more country suffers from chronic hunger; that small agricultural producers see their incomes double; and that the carbon footprint of food systems respects the framework set by the Paris climate agreement.”  Republished in Head Topics France (Reach 323K), The Canadian.
