Danielle Resnick

Danielle Resnick is a Senior Research Fellow in the Markets, Trade, and Institutions Unit and a Non-Resident Fellow in the Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution. Her research focuses on the political economy of agricultural policy and food systems, governance, and democratization, drawing on extensive fieldwork and policy engagement across Africa and South Asia.

Trump’s promised farm bonanza from China deal far from fulfilled (BNN Bloomberg)

BNN Bloomberg published an article stating that President Trump’s promise that his phase one trade deal with China would provide a $36.5 billion election-year bonanza for his rural base was always a stretch, but now, may never be fulfilled. Senior Research Fellow Joseph Glauber said, “There’s absolutely zero chance” of reaching the purchase commitment announced in January when the deal was reached. They’re just so far behind.”
