Anjani Kumar

Anjani Kumar is a Senior Research Fellow in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit in the South Asia Office, New Delhi. Before joining IFPRI, Dr. Kumar was Principal Scientist (Agricultural Economics) at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT), Hyderabad. Before this, he served as Principal Scientist at the National Centre for Agricultural Economics and Policy Research, New Delhi, and as Senior Agricultural Economist in the Asia Office of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI), Nairobi. He has also worked as a consultant for many national and international institutions including the FAO and World Bank.

Dr. Kumar has written more than 110 research papers in national and international research journals on various agricultural development issues. He has also contributed more than 70 papers/chapters to important books and proceedings. His contributions have been well recognized, and he is a Fellow of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) of India. He has won a number of awards from national and international organizations including the prestigious Rafi Ahmad Kidwai Award (2017), Lal Bahadur Young Scientist Award (2005), and NAAS Young Scientist Award (2003). He received his PhD and master’s degree in Dairy Economics from the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, India.
