Poor diets are a leading driver of chronic disease and premature death worldwide, contributing to obesity, diabetes, and other conditions that strain health systems and economies. Rigorous nutrition science is critical to understanding these challenges and informing the policies and interventions needed to achieve healthier diets.
NUTRITION 2026, the American Society for Nutrition’s annual meeting, will take place from July 25 to 28, 2026, in National Harbor, Maryland, just outside Washington, DC. The program features more than 40 oral sessions and 1,600 research presentations, covering topics such as AI-powered dietary tools, obesity and GLP-1 therapies, regulation of food additives, and the future of dietary guidance. IFPRI is pleased to participate, presenting research on diet quality and drivers of food choice in South Asia and Africa.
