Brazil tries to boost agriculture in the Ottawa Group (AviSite)

July 07, 2020

AviSite (Argentina) reported that Brazil stresses that agricultural trade has shown resilience so far. International markets remained relatively stable, despite strong pressures on production, supply chains and rapid changes in demand. Crops have been above expectations; food stocks are well supplied and international prices seem to be under control. Although a global food crisis due to the pandemic is unlikely, IFPRI warns, in a study cited by the Brazilian delegation, that regional or national crises can be expected, disproportionately affecting the poorest.
