Preschool Children Nutrition and Development

Co-organized by IFPRI and World Food Program (WFP)

October 11 to 12, 2021

  • 9:30 – 5:30 am (America/New_York)
  • 3:30 – 11:30 am (Europe/Amsterdam)
  • 7:00 – 3:00 pm (Asia/Kolkata)

In 2018, the World Food Program, focused on improving the nutrition of children ages 3-5 in underdeveloped rural areas in China, launched a three-year “pilot project for improving nutrition for preschool children” in Xiangxi, Hunan, and commissioned IFPRI to carry out follow-up evaluation activities.  Coverage of pilot projects have since continuously expanded, intervention measures and methods have deepened, and the project has extended to underdeveloped rural areas such as Guangxi, Gansu, and Sichuan.

The purpose of this seminar is to share evaluation results of the Xiangxi Project with relevant stakeholders and to provide an empirical basis for action research to further promote relevant policy recommendations.

It will also provide a platform for learning among project partners from agriculture, food, nutrition, and different aspects of health and education to explore the experiences and practices of early nutrition intervention for disadvantaged children in rural areas.
