Don’t miss the BIMSTEC bus (Business Standard)

June 16, 2019

India’s Business Standard published an opinion piece by Research Analysts Manmeet Ajmani and Vishruta Choudhary and Senior Research Fellow Devesh Roy, with a focus on how Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent outreach to the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectorial Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) could improve food security and build resilience in the region. They drew upon the results of an IFPRI study of the ASEAN-SAARC agricultural trade relationship and lessons from China to argue that India could benefit from a prompt Free Trade Agreement with BIMSTEC partners and should hasten growth and connectivity along with simplifying and harmonizing trade procedures.
