The contemporary global economic environment is characterized by heightened complexity and volatility, presenting significant challenges to the sustainable evolution of food systems worldwide.  The International Food Policy Research Institute’s (IFPRI) report, What Do We Know About the Future of Food Systems?, adopts a comprehensive, globally oriented analytical framework to examine viable pathways for transforming food systems by 2050. Complementing this global perspective, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) China Agricultural Sector Development Report 2026 offers an evidence-based, context-specific analysis grounded in China’s socioeconomic realities. This joint launch event provides a strategic foresight and actionable policy insights to strengthen the scientific foundation for evidence-informed transformation of agricultural and food systems.
