Bio

Geoffrey Baragu is a Research Associate at the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), specializing in agricultural value chains, digital inclusion, and the economics of food systems. A rigorous mixed-methods researcher, Geoffrey has managed and published evaluations on multiple Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) spanning Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, India, Colombia, and Peru.

His technical expertise bridges quantitative and qualitative methodologies. His work utilizes True Cost Accounting (TCA) frameworks to quantify the hidden economic and gendered costs of food production, complemented by advanced qualitative methodologies – incorporating MAXQDA and intercoder agreement protocols – as well as spatial data analysis using QGIS to map agricultural and socio-economic trends.

Prior to joining IFPRI, Geoffrey served as a Policy Analyst in the Young Professional Program at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), where he supported national economic analysis and evidence-based public policy formulation.
